Garage Door Repair Across the GTA

Garage doors are the only thing we work on. Most calls we get are from homeowners whose door stopped working that morning, and most of those problems come down to a handful of parts: springs, cables, rollers, tracks, hinges and the opener. Tell us what the door is doing and we'll tell you what it usually means — then get a technician out to you.

  • Garage door won't open
  • Garage door won't close
  • Door is stuck or jammed
  • Loud, grinding or scraping operation
  • Door moves crooked or uneven
  • Broken or damaged hardware
  • Door reverses on its own
  • Damaged panels or sections

Broken Garage Door Spring Repair

Broken garage door spring? We repair and replace torsion and extension springs on residential doors throughout the GTA. Springs carry the weight of the door, so once one breaks the door usually stops working entirely.

Broken spring · Torsion spring · Extension spring · Spring replacement · Door too heavy to lift

Common symptoms

  • You heard a loud bang from the garage, and afterwards the door wouldn't open
  • There's a visible gap in the coiled spring above the door
  • The opener strains, hums or clicks but the door barely moves
  • The door is extremely heavy to lift by hand
  • The door opens a few inches and stops
  • The door slams down instead of lowering smoothly

Common causes

  • Normal cycle fatigue — springs are wear parts with a rated cycle life
  • Rust and corrosion weakening the coil, common after Ontario winters
  • An undersized or mismatched spring installed previously
  • Lack of lubrication and maintenance over many years
  • One spring on a two-spring door failing and overloading the other

What our technicians do

  • Inspect and measure the spring system: wire size, length, inside diameter and wind
  • Replace broken torsion springs, or extension springs with safety cables
  • Balance the door so it holds position and doesn't drift or slam
  • Check cables, drums, bearings and the centre bracket while we're in there
  • Re-set opener force and travel limits after the door is balanced

What to expect

Spring work is the most common repair we do, and it's also the most dangerous to attempt yourself — a torsion spring stores enough energy to cause serious injury. A technician confirms the correct spring specification for your door and replaces it rather than guessing. Please don't force the door open with a broken spring.

Garage Door Opener Repair & Replacement

Garage door opener not working? We repair and replace openers, motors, safety sensors, remotes and wall controls across the GTA — and replace units that are past their useful life with quieter belt-drive models.

Opener repair · Opener replacement · Garage door motor · Safety sensors · Remote & keypad · Door won't open · Door won't close

Common symptoms

  • The motor runs but the door doesn't move
  • The door starts to close, then reverses back up
  • The remote doesn't work, but the wall button does (or the other way around)
  • The opener light blinks repeatedly and nothing happens
  • The opener is loud, grinding, or the chain/belt is loose
  • The keypad on the outside of the garage stopped responding

Common causes

  • Misaligned or blocked photo-eye safety sensors
  • Stripped drive gear or a worn trolley/carriage assembly
  • Broken chain, belt or damaged rail
  • Failed logic board, capacitor or motor
  • Travel and force limits out of adjustment
  • Dead remote batteries, lost programming, or a failed receiver

What our technicians do

  • Diagnose whether the fault is the opener or the door itself — an unbalanced door will defeat a healthy opener
  • Realign and repair safety sensors and wiring
  • Replace gears, sprockets, trolleys, chains and belts
  • Reprogram remotes, keypads and wall consoles
  • Install replacement openers, including quieter belt-drive units

What to expect

A lot of opener calls turn out to be a sensor, a limit setting, or a door that's out of balance — worth checking before replacing a whole unit. If the opener genuinely is at end of life, we'll say so and give you the choice between repair and replacement instead of deciding for you.

Cable, Track, Roller & Off-Track Door Repair

Door hanging crooked, jammed in the opening, or grinding as it moves? We repair broken garage door cables, bent tracks, worn rollers and doors that have come off their track — the usual reason a door won't open or won't close.

Cable repair · Track repair · Roller repair · Off-track door · Door won't open · Door won't close · Door stuck

Common symptoms

  • One side of the door is higher than the other
  • A cable is hanging loose, frayed or snapped off the drum
  • The door has jumped out of the track and is wedged in place
  • Loud grinding, scraping or popping as the door moves
  • The door binds partway and stops
  • Rollers are cracked, flat-spotted or falling out of their stems

Common causes

  • A vehicle bumping the door or the track
  • Worn rollers seizing and forcing the door out of alignment
  • Cables slipping off the drums after a spring failure
  • Loose track brackets and fasteners after years of cycles
  • Debris, ice or rust in the track

What our technicians do

  • Secure the door safely before anything is unloaded or re-tensioned
  • Replace broken or frayed cables and re-wind the drums evenly
  • Straighten or replace damaged track sections and re-align the brackets
  • Replace worn rollers, hinges and fasteners
  • Re-seat the door in the track and test full travel and balance

What to expect

An off-track door is under tension and can drop unexpectedly, so this is not a repair to attempt by hand. Leave the door where it is, avoid using the opener, and call us — forcing it usually turns a cable job into a panel replacement.

Garage Door Installation & Replacement

When a door is dented, rusted through, badly warped or simply worn out, replacement makes more sense than another repair. We supply and install new residential garage doors across the GTA, including insulated doors built for Ontario winters.

Common symptoms

  • Panels are dented, cracked, rusted or rotting
  • The door has been repaired repeatedly and keeps failing
  • The garage is freezing because the door has no insulation
  • The door is very loud and the hardware is worn throughout
  • You want a different look for the front of the house

Common causes

  • Vehicle impact damage
  • Age, corrosion and winter exposure
  • Original builder-grade doors reaching end of life
  • Water damage at the bottom section

What our technicians do

  • Measure the opening, headroom, backroom and track configuration
  • Go through door styles, insulation values and window options with you
  • Remove and dispose of the old door and hardware
  • Install the new door, springs, tracks and hardware
  • Set up and test the opener with the new door, then show you how it operates

What to expect

We quote replacement against repair honestly. If the existing door has years left in it, we'll tell you that. If it doesn't, you get the price for the new door and installation before anything is ordered.

Doors That Won't Open, Won't Close, or Just Aren't Right

Not every problem has an obvious cause. If your door only opens halfway, closes and bounces back, makes a noise it never used to, or feels heavier than it should, that's still a garage door repair call — and usually a small part.

Garage door won't open · Garage door won't close · Noisy garage door · Door reverses · Uneven door · Emergency garage door repair

View General Repair Details

Common symptoms

  • The door only opens partway and stops
  • The door closes and immediately reverses
  • The door shakes, judders or moves unevenly
  • New rattling, squealing or banging noises
  • The door drifts open or shut on its own
  • The bottom seal no longer touches the floor

Common causes

  • Worn hinges, bearings or rollers
  • Sensor alignment and opener settings
  • Loose hardware after years of daily cycles
  • Spring balance drifting out of adjustment
  • Damaged bottom seal or weather stripping

What our technicians do

  • Run the door through a full cycle and check balance by hand
  • Inspect springs, cables, drums, rollers, hinges and tracks
  • Tighten, lubricate and replace the worn hardware causing the fault
  • Adjust opener force, travel and sensor alignment
  • Explain what failed and what to watch for next

What to expect

Describe the symptom in plain language when you call — you don't need to know part names. Most of these calls come down to one or two components, and catching them early is what keeps a small repair from becoming a broken cable or a bent panel.

Garage Door Questions from the Greater Toronto Area Homeowners

Do you serve my part of the GTA?

We cover the Greater Toronto Area, including Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, Oakville, Aurora and Newmarket. If you're just outside those, call and ask — we'll tell you straight away whether we can get to you.

My garage door won't open. What should I do first?

Stop using the opener. If a spring or cable has broken, running the opener can pull the door further out of alignment or damage a panel. Call us and describe what happened — most of the time the symptom tells us the part.

Can I open the door manually with a broken spring?

You shouldn't. Without a working spring the door's full weight is unsupported, which makes it extremely heavy and unsafe to lift or hold. Leave it closed and call.

Do you repair openers, or only replace them?

We repair openers whenever the fault is repairable — sensors, gears, trolleys, chains, belts, boards and remotes. We only recommend replacement when the unit is genuinely at end of life, and then we give you both options.

Should I repair my garage door or replace it?

It depends on the door's condition, not just its age. Panel damage, rust through the bottom section and repeated failures across different parts point to replacement. A single failed component usually doesn't. We'll tell you which situation you're in.

How do I get a technician out?

Call us and describe the problem, or send a service request with your name, phone number and city — we'll call you back about your door.
